Tutorial - How to Make a Dress from Shirts

Made from 3 shirts and one T-shirt

Dress Tutorial at Creative Chaos Blog

"It was pretty simple to do and it would have been relatively quick too if I would have managed to sew the right sides together straight away, but, as they say, learning by doing (also very good for those of us wanting to become more patient... I made it out of three old shirts from my man and one old t-shirt of mine. Unfortunately, using old shirts here is quite different from doing the same for example in Europe. There are so many people here that would love even an old shirt, so I was under pressure to make something nice if I dare and cut up valuable items.  Not sure if it is nice, but I am extremely fond of my little dress".... Mayonnaise Tutorial at Mooberry Farm Homesteading Journal

"Mayonnaise is a staple around here.... but I don't buy it at the market. Homemade mayonnaise is so simple and inexpensive to make that I gave up store-bought long ago in favor of a little mayo-self-sufficiency! Most mayonnaise recipes contain raw eggs, which are mixed with vinegar and oil to make a creamy emulsion. I don't like the idea of feeding my family raw eggs. Especially in a food that may sit in the fridge for a week or so! My mayonnaise recipe is different than many because the eggs are cooked in the process".... Read more

I have had a long time need for getting by belt act together. It´s funny how certain things can inspire me in areas of my life where, apparently, there is no relation whatsoever. Tutorial - How to Use Color in Your Craft

Good pointers on using color effectively

Color Theory Tutorial at Uzume's Crafty Goodness Blog

"Color can make or break any artistic project. It doesn't matter if you're painting your house, knitting a scarf, or beading a bracelet-- color is the first thing most people notice, and if the colors you choose "work" for the project, the effect is profoundly positive. If, however, you choose colors that don't "work"-- either they don't work together, or they don't match the project-- they can get in the way of the artistic statement you are trying to make.  I'm not trying to say that every color needs to harmonize perfectly-- trust me, I'm all about using bright and unexpected color combinations-- but I think it's important to understand the way that color works (and, more importantly, the way colors work together) if you want to make the most out of crafting"....
